Governing Body
The Role of the Governing Body
Governors help direct the school’s future by helping to look forward strategically to how the school should be improving and developing over the next several years and into the future. They act as a “critical friend”, challenging and supporting the management team. They are also accountable for monitoring the school’s progress towards those development aims, ensuring strong financial control against the budget and that statutory requirements are met. They are not involved with the day-to-day running of the school, which is the responsibility of the Head and the school senior leadership team.
Durdan’s Park Primary Governors
The Full Governing Body of 17 people meets termly and delegates some responsibilities to committees. Currently at Durdan’s Park Primary there are two main committees: Premises and Finance Committee and the Curriculum Committee.
There are four categories of Governor:
- Parent Governors (voted in by the parents and carers)
- Community Governors (co-opted for their expertise)
- Staff Governors (voted in by members of the school staff)
- LEA Governors (appointed by Ealing Education Authority).
Should a parent wish to contact the Chair of Governors, they should do so in writing, via the school office.
